Your team consists of an MD, an educator, and 2 psychotherapists. Our cannabis-assisted psychotherapy (CAP) program consist of an initial intake by an MD in which you will be screened medically and psychologically to determine if this treatment is appropriate for you.
If appropriate, CAP begins with a preparation appointment where we work with you to help you set an intention for your treatment. We will discuss with you what to expect, dietary and medication considerations, as well as before and aftercare.
After the initial intake, preparation appointment, and education session, you will be placed into a 8-week program in which cannabis-assisted therapy will be provided in the following way:
- Cannabis flower is self-administered via Volcano Vaporizer and psychotherapy is provided. Each session is approximately 90 minutes.
- After every cannabis-assisted psychotherapy session, there is an integration follow up session.
After completing your individual CAP program, if appropriate, you may have the option to join our Group CAP program in formation.

*CAP is currently considered an experimental therapy by insurance companies. AIMS Institute will directly bill insurance companies for medical/psychiatric screening, preparation, integration, standard psychotherapy visits, and any medical assessments or interventions that may be required during CAP sessions. For experiential cannabis-assisted therapy sessions, fees will be collected at the time of service. Clients may be required to complete a follow-up preparation education session with SMJ Consulting prior to starting CAP program.
